The Emsländische Volksbank has constructed a three-story branch building in Haren (Ems) featuring striking Wittmunder brick. The self-assured building stands in a central location within the city center and blends seamlessly into the surrounding architecture, thanks to materials typical of the region. A subtle perforated façade creates a clear interplay of open and closed surfaces, while generous glass fronts at the entrances provide a bright, inviting atmosphere.
A meticulously executed brick relief underscores the building’s sculptural appeal. On the closed façade, a delicate diamond pattern has been integrated, complemented by a large sandstone logo. Inside, a flexible column grid and hollow floors allow for adaptable layouts, making it easy to reorganize work and usage areas. Thanks to the KfW-40-EE standard and a solar-powered heat pump, the building meets high energy efficiency requirements. An electric charging station with two charging points, as well as bicycle and car parking spaces, rounds out the concept.
