Badetwete - Braunschweig

Braunschweig
Dogrul Kurz Architekten

Designed by Dogrul + Kurz Architects, this semi-detached house for two families was built on an elongated hillside plot and blends harmoniously into the surroundings of Braunschweig’s Bürgerpark.

The previously vacant timber-framed house on the site could no longer be preserved. In its place, a two-storey new building with a basement was created, following a coherent architectural concept that extends from the clinker façade to the terracing and boundary walls.

The project features Wittmunder Klinker, Sortierung 15 in thin format – a blue-violet clinker brick with a vibrant play of colours, laid alternately with the smooth and textured (foot) sides visible. The result is a surface rich in craftsmanship and subtle depth, changing in appearance with the light.

Like all Wittmunder bricks, this variety is made exclusively from local clay sourced within a 15-kilometre radius of the factory and fired naturally in a tunnel kiln – without engobes or chemical additives. The outcome is true material authenticity and lasting beauty.

Inside, the open floor plan creates a fluid connection between living, dining and kitchen areas, while the upper floors provide private retreat spaces with views over the park.
A project that successfully combines sustainable construction, regional value creation and contemporary architecture.

Important visual accents

The overall impression of the grading depends on the other elements of the facade. These include joint colour, window frames, railings, etc., which set important visual accents.

The sorting used is an object-related sorting. A similar sorting can be created for you on request.
