Coido Architekten win with Wittmunder Klinker in the Pergolen neighbourhood

In 2017, the team from Coido Architekten won the competition to redesign building plots 5 and 6 in the Pergolen-Viertel, a dynamic new neighbourhood located between City Nord and the historic districts on the eastern edge of the Stadtpark. Their design is characterised by a clear urban planning vision and precise design decisions that significantly enhance the quarter.

Coido Architekten focussed on clear lines in their concept for the façade design and spatial planning. The use of Wittmunder Klinker clinker brick characterises the almost 200-metre-long, horizontally oriented building block on construction site 5. A symmetrical structure and a continuous grid of windows and loggias give the long facade a calming continuity that significantly defines the architectural image of the district.

The architects retained the powerful, calming design for construction site 6. A day care centre and a day care facility on the ground floor activate the neighbourhood square. The facade facing the square is dominated by square windows, whose detailed work creates a subtle play of light and shadow. The upper residential floors are grouped around a central atrium, which strengthens the sense of community.

By using Wittmunder Klinker clinker bricks, Coido Architekten emphasise the quality and aesthetic consistency of their project, blending it harmoniously into the existing urban and natural landscape. With advanced building technology and an innovative living concept, the pergola neighbourhood sets new standards for urban living.
